Getting to know Angelina Oputa
Are you feeling frustrated, irritable, and mad at the world? Are you ready to feel at peace and proud of the way you are living your everyday life? We all face challenges, and sometimes additional support is necessary. No matter how small or overwhelming the challenge, I approach treatment from a place of non-judgment to identify the root of problems rather than offering a temporary fix. During our first session, I will take time to get to know you, ask about your past experiences with therapy, and discuss what you want to accomplish during our time together. I hold a Master's degree in Counseling Psychology from The University of Baltimore and a Bachelor's degree from the University of Maryland, Baltimore, which inform my compassionate and effective approach to care.
What should a new client know about working with you?
I view therapy as a partnership. During sessions, I collaborate with clients, using their self-knowledge and my clinical expertise to find solutions. Each client is a unique individual, and as a result, an individualized treatment plan is created to support healing and positive change.
What is your typical process for working with clients?
A short assessment will also be conducted to identify any past trauma so I am better able to support you. Follow-up sessions will be used to continue building the therapeutic relationship, and begin working towards positive change. Together I can support you in identifying stressors and learning healthy coping mechanisms to support long-term wellbeing.
I take time to learn about clients' personalities, strengths, and specific areas of focus. Together we can identify tools to address symptoms of anxiety, depression, and substance use. My goal is to collaborate with you. And create an individualized plan that can support you in becoming the best version of yourself. Let's talk, I am here to support you!
