Getting to know Angelique Yemma

You look like you're holding it all together on the outside, but inside you're overwhelmed, second-guessing yourself, & wondering why life feels so much harder than it should. Maybe you're a teen struggling with perfectionism and pressure, a young adult feeling lost in a life transition, or a parent worried about your child's emotional outbursts, confidence, or ability to cope with stress. I specialize in helping highly sensitive teens & young adults move from self-doubt, emotional overwhelm, & disconnection to confidence, self-trust, & joy. Therapy is not about "fixing" you—it's about helping you reconnect with yourself and develop practical skills that create lasting change. I integrate traditional talk therapy with body-based approaches that help clients build emotional awareness, confidence, and regulation.

What should a new client know about working with you?

Clients often come to me feeling like they are constantly pushing themselves but never feeling satisfied with their accomplishments or relationships. Many are high-achieving students, college students, or young professionals who struggle with anxiety, perfectionism, social pressure, ADHD-related overwhelm, or difficulty slowing down. In our work together, I take a warm, collaborative, and nonjudgmental approach. Therapy with me is active and experiential—you don’t need to have the “right words.” We can also use the body, movement, breath, and awareness to help you understand what’s happening internally when thoughts feel too loud or confusing. You can expect a space that is supportive, honest, and grounded in helping you build real-life tools for emotional regulation, self-compassion, and confidence.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

We begin with an initial session focused on understanding what’s bringing you in, your current stressors, and what you hope will feel different in your life. I also take time to learn about your history, strengths, and patterns that may be contributing to anxiety, perfectionism, or burnout. From there, we collaborate on goals that feel realistic and meaningful to you—this may include reducing anxiety, improving self-esteem, managing academic or performance pressure, or developing healthier coping strategies. Sessions often blend talk therapy with body-based and experiential interventions from Dance/Movement Therapy. This might include noticing physical tension related to stress, exploring grounding techniques, or using movement and breath to help regulate emotions in real time. Over time, clients typically develop a stronger sense of self-awareness, improved emotional regulation, and a more compassionate internal voice—so they can feel more present, confident, and less controlled by pressure to be “perfect.”
