Shanel Kaiser graduated from Liberty University and holds two Master’s degrees in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and Human Services Counseling. She is a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate in South Carolina. Shanel is trained in DBT (Dialectical Behavior Therapy), Trauma Informed Care, and Grief Counseling. Shanel enjoys working with children, teens, and adults that struggle with anxiety, depression, childhood trauma, BIPOC issues, relationship issues, codependency, and more. She uses a Trauma Informed Approach to therapy while incorporating DBT, CBT, and coping skills to help you feel better as you process your life experiences. Shanel currently lives in South Carolina’s Lowcountry with her husband, three children, and dog. She enjoys spending time with her family, watching reality tv shows, crocheting, and going to both the mountains and the beach.

What should a new client know about working with you?

Childhood or complex trauma can make you feel SO small or being held hostage by those experiences and unable to live life to the fullest. Maybe you’re done with saying yes to everyone and everything, and you’re burnt out? Maybe there are relationships that are not healthy for you, and you’re trying to change those dynamics. Working with a therapist can help you achieve lasting relief! Clients often come to see me to feel validated and accepted with no judgment and to address BIPOC issues. I honor your willingness and courage to break generational trauma cycles and make positive changes in your life. You do not have to continue to feel broken and helpless, and you don’t have to do it alone – I am here and ready when you are!

What is your typical process for working with clients?

After our initial intake, we will make sure to choose the best treatment approach for your specific concerns. Your improvement of symptoms, relationships and health are my top priorities!
