Getting to know Ann Currier

Hello and welcome! I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor with almost 2 decades of experience and expertise specializing in LGBTQ+ care, specifically transgender care, "dealing with difficult people" (personality disorders), dissociative identity disorder, depression, anxiety, schizophrenia, and just figuring life out in general. For my transgender clients, I write letters of support for starting hormones and obtaining surgeries. I have long standing work relationships with the providers/surgeons in these areas and can assist with any issues that might come up in in transition. My previous and current clients will tell you "if the plan isn't realistic, it's not a good plan!" I love to help people look at their lives from an objective point of view, establish realistic and grounded goals, and make the best plan moving forward. Regardless of what you or your loved ones have going on in your lives, I am here to help you figure it out and to listen with an open heart, without judgement. I look forward to meeting with you!

What should a new client know about working with you?

My approach to therapy is non-judgmental, open-minded, and "thinking outside of the box". An objective point of view is absolutely necessary in navigating life. I'm not your sister, mom, best friend, neighbor, etc. I am a licensed mental health counselor with years of experience, an open mind, and excellent problem-solving skills.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

In the first session, I mostly like to hear where you're coming from, where you are right now, and then help you figure out where you need to go in your mental health. By the end of the first session, you will have a plan to which you agree with definitive goals to work on that we have developed together.
