Ann Jeffrey, LMSW

Ann Jeffrey, LMSW

Psychotherapist
NY
I specialize in supporting individuals through profound life challenges, including anxiety, depression, grief, loss, trauma, illness, and end-of-life concerns. My training through the Foundations Program in Contemplative Care at the New York Zen Center for Contemplative Care has shaped my ability to approach these deeply sensitive topics with compassion, presence, and respect. Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of walking alongside people during their most difficult moments—helping them process emotions related to family dynamics, faith, hope, and the inevitable transitions life brings. In addition to my work with grief and trauma, I also work with individuals navigating gender transition and other experiences within the LGBTQ community. My recent studies in mindfulness have further enriched my perspective, offering clients tools to cultivate resilience and connect with the full spectrum of their human experience.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I earned my Master’s in Social Work from Washington University in St. Louis and completed post-graduate training in psychoanalytically-oriented therapy at the American Institute for Psychoanalysis in New York. My clinical work has included both private practice and service at the Karen Horney Clinic. Originally from Maine, I now live in Park Slope, Brooklyn with my husband and our two cats, and I’m the proud mother of two young adults. Outside of work, I enjoy running, cooking, photography, reading, and time with friends.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

My therapeutic style is active and engaged, rooted in curiosity, empathy, and a belief in the transformative power of self-awareness. Together, we’ll explore the connections between your past and present, foster self-compassion, and create space for freedom from the heavy judgments we so often carry. I believe that therapy can bring profound emotional relief—and with it, the possibility for meaningful change.
