Getting to know Ann Lemonius-Smart

Hi there, I'm Ann! Greetings! My name is Ann. I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor driven to help my clients overcome everyday obstacles while guiding them toward hope and healing. My approach Inspired by Rogers all those years ago in graduate school, my approach has always been person-centered, utilizing CBT interventions and occasional strength-based strategies in therapy. I have found these methods most effective in moving people forward in the therapeutic process. My focus I have a specific interest in working with clients who struggle to manage life’s challenges, particularly in their careers, higher education, or relationships. My communication style Once in treatment, I create a safe space where you can be open and vulnerable with no judgment! Through empathy, light humor, transparency, and accountability, I will meet you where you are and lead you toward success. My journey to therapy My career as a therapist began in teaching after earning my Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education. While working with students, I found myself drawn to meet their emotional needs rather than just the class’s needs. This shift led me to pursue a Master’s Degree in Counseling from Mercy College, followed by my License in Mental Health Counseling. Seeing people realize hope in the face of adversity is one of the greatest rewards of becoming a therapist. My goals for you Whatever your goals, I will encourage you to develop skills and strategies to help on your journey toward success. Change can be a process, so it’s important we acknowledge each accomplishment, big or small, every step of the way. My first session with you During our first session, we will take the time to get to know each other.
