Getting to know Ann-Maria Michelle Ulysse

I am a licensed therapist who works with adults navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, identity concerns, and significant life transitions. My path into therapy was shaped by firsthand experience with change, uncertainty, and the emotional impact of redefining one’s direction. This background informs my grounded, thoughtful, and compassionate approach to care. I believe meaningful growth begins with feeling seen, understood, and supported. Therapy is a space where you can slow down, reflect, and reconnect with yourself in a way that feels safe and respectful. I provide a warm, non-judgmental environment where clients can explore challenges openly while building clarity, resilience, and confidence. My work is highly individualized and collaborative. I recognize that each client brings a unique history, perspective, and set of strengths into the therapy room. Together, we focus on understanding patterns, developing effective coping strategies, and fostering lasting emotional insight. My goal is to support you in creating meaningful change and moving forward with greater self-awareness and purpose.

What should a new client know about working with you?

Clients often describe my style as calm, grounded, and supportive. I approach therapy with curiosity, empathy, and respect for your lived experience. Our work together is collaborative, meaning your voice, goals, and pace guide the process. I provide thoughtful feedback, gentle challenge when appropriate, and consistent support throughout our work. My therapeutic approach integrates insight-oriented exploration with practical tools that support emotional regulation, resilience, and self-understanding. Sessions are structured enough to feel purposeful while remaining flexible to meet what you are experiencing in the moment. I prioritize creating an environment where you can speak honestly without fear of judgment or pressure. Clients come to me when they feel overwhelmed, uncertain, emotionally stuck, or disconnected from themselves. Whether you are navigating anxiety, trauma, relationship challenges, identity exploration, or a major life transition, therapy offers an opportunity to gain clarity and build confidence. You do not need to have everything figured out before starting. We work through it together.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

The first phase of therapy focuses on building a strong therapeutic relationship and gaining a clear understanding of your concerns, history, and goals. We explore what brought you to therapy, what you would like to change, and what has or has not been helpful in the past. This foundation allows therapy to feel intentional and supportive from the start. As we move forward, sessions may include exploring emotional patterns, identifying triggers, processing past experiences, and developing coping strategies that align with your values and daily life. I tailor each session to your needs, blending reflection, insight, and skill building to support sustainable growth. Progress is collaborative and reviewed regularly to ensure therapy continues to meet your goals. Therapy is not about fixing or forcing change. It is about understanding yourself more fully and developing tools that support emotional balance and resilience. Over time, clients often experience greater clarity, improved self-trust, and an increased sense of confidence in navigating life’s challenges. My role is to walk alongside you with consistency, care, and professional guidance throughout that process.

The first 2 appointments she was late for. The reason for my having her as a therapist is because my last therapist was extremely poor with time management. So this was explained at the beginning of our first session. She frequently made me feel forgotten or like I had to remind her that we had sessions. Our last session, it was as if she zoned out, and completely dismissed everything I had said to her in the last 5 minutes or so. I felt supported by her initially because I thought she was hearing me out. And then It seemed as though, like most of my other experiences I was blamed for my reaction without acknowledgement of their own. I am in therapy to heal, not to be used. Our last session she called me hostile, because I used profanity in my last message to her. Once again, with no acknowledgement for why. I was assaulted a few days ago, and desperately needed her. Just to be neglected, and called hostile. Out of 10, I’d give her a 5 for effort. Please find someone else.
