Ann Marie Driver, LCMHCA

Psychotherapist
NC
I am a licensed clinical mental health counselor associate who graduated from Lenoir Rhyne University. I have worked in direct care since 2015, primarily with children and families. My work is rooted in steadiness, compassion, and the belief that young people deserve a space that feels safe enough for them to show up as they are. I support children, teens, and young adults who are navigating anxiety, grief, trauma, identity questions, and big emotions. I offer EMDR as one option for healing, and we decide together if it feels like a good fit. EMDR can help when a memory or experience feels stuck, but it never has to be the main way we work. I want therapy to feel manageable and shaped around the young person's needs. Grief work is a central part of my practice. Many young people come to me after the loss of a pet, a family member, a friendship, or a familiar version of life. I help clients understand the bond they had, the meaning of that connection, and the ways grief can show up in the body. Pet grief is something I hold with particular tenderness. I offer age-appropriate support for children and teens who are mourning a companion animal and trying to make sense of the quiet that follows. My style is warm and grounded. I use DBT-informed skills, mindfulness, and IFS-informed practices to help clients understand what they are feeling and build tools that fit their lives. With younger children, I often use play and creativity to support expression. With teens and young adults, I offer a space that feels collaborative and respectful of their growing independence. When it is helpful, I partner with caregivers to strengthen communication and support at home while still protecting the young person's privacy and voice. My hope is that therapy is a space to land where grief is honored, healing is possible, and no one has to carry everything alone.
