Ann Webb, LCSW

Psychotherapist
TX
I am a second-career social worker who earned my Master’s in Social Work in 2014 and my Ph.D. in 2019, both from the University of Houston’s Graduate College of Social Work. Originally from New Orleans, Louisiana, I have lived in the Houston area for over 30 years. I chose social work because of my personal experiences raising a child with behavioral health issues and coping with profound loss after the sudden death of my husband. My goal has been to help others the way my family was helped, while also improving outcomes for those with similar lived experiences who may not have had as positive a journey. I have worked in diverse settings, including West Oaks Hospital, a specialty psychiatric hospital, and its affiliated outpatient clinics, where I provided individual, group, and family therapy to adults and adolescents facing significant mental health crises. I have also worked in home hospice care, supporting individuals and families through both pre-bereavement and post-bereavement stages, and facilitated online support groups for caregivers and those experiencing grief and loss. In addition to my private practice, I serve as an adjunct professor at the University of Houston’s Graduate College of Social Work. I also frequently consult with immigration lawyers on how mental health issues can affect asylum or citizenship cases. While I do not consider myself a trauma specialist, I practice with a trauma-informed approach and remain mindful of how trauma shapes the lives and experiences of individuals from all backgrounds. I have experience working with clients living with ADHD, anxiety, autism, depression, and mood disorders. My ultimate goal is to support my clients in achieving their own goals for a happier, healthier life.

What should a new client know about working with you?

In our first session, we will spend some time getting to know each other, and I may have you complete several short screening assessment documents. I find it helpful to use these assessment documents to identify the specific issues that are bothering you when we start working together, and we will use them again after working together for several weeks to measure your progress. During our first session, I will also ask you to share with me any specific concerns you have as well as your goals for the future. We will generally wrap up our first session with my assigning “homework” for you to complete prior to our next session. Typically, homework involves practicing skills you have learned during a specific session, or taking concrete steps toward a specific goal you have identified.

More information on payments and coverage

Payment is due after each session and will be charged with your card on file for any portion of patient responsibility. Receipts will be provided at the time of the charge. This typically takes place 2-4 weeks after the session, once your insurance has had a chance to process the claim. We try our best to verify eligibility, but it is ultimately your responsibility to check coverage and out-of-pocket costs for services. For out-of-network visits, you will be billed at the provider’s self-pay rate, and we can provide an invoice for you to submit to your insurance for potential out-of-network reimbursement based on your plan’s benefits.
