“My emotions and mind have became more regulated and I am less easy triggered. I find myself in the same situations that used to upset me, but my reactions are much healthier for myself and those around me. I also have experienced peace and stability in a spiritual sense. I've appreciated that therapy feels more active than it has with previous therapists and I come away with tangible action steps that actually help.”

Getting to know Anna Bella McCormick

I partner with ambitious women to build a lifestyle where high performance meets health and joy. My clients are the go-getter girls who feel a strong sense of pressure to succeed. Their drive has enabled them to experience success academically and professionally, but it's also made them prone to anxiety, overwhelm, and burnout. They often sacrifice their own well-being in efforts to please others and hit the next benchmark. Meanwhile, they desire a firmer foundation: a life and mindset that's well-ordered, better work-life integration, and a solid sense of confidence and direction. With a Master's in Social Work from the University of Chicago: Hyde Park, I help women build a high-performance lifestyle while taking better care of themselves and developing an identity rooted in more than external achievement. We work on healing from unhelpful patterns that aren't serving them, cultivating confidence, and strategizing for high performance from the inside out. The goal is optimization and integration-finding what helps you stay at your best and discovering how to create cohesion and balance between the various facets of life.

What should a new client know about working with you?

My approach combines principles of high performance psychology and functional wellness to support better integration in your life. My style is a balance of support and strategy that will help you feel comfortable yet challenged on your way to results. If you're looking for individualized insight, guidance and tangible tools then you've come to the right place. My style incorporates support AND strategy to help my clients get unstuck and build a well-rounded life. You know that ideal version of you that lives in your head, but never seems to fully surface? Let's bring her to life!

What is your typical process for working with clients?

I start with a thorough intake process that allows me to get a solid picture of your history and present-day. I want to learn about your day-to-day and all the key facets of your life. I collaborate with you to identify goals and understand what approach is going to work best. I'll ask about things you might not expect a therapist to ask such as how you eat, our sleep and how you manage your time. During our sessions, I'll listen to you and ask follow-up questions to help you develop new insights and think about things from a different perspective. It's common for my clients to say things like "I've never thought about it that way" or "I didn't realize that until just now" in our sessions. I'll also offer more direct observations when I believe it could benefit you. I love being with my clients as they experience the "aha" moments, but I also think it's important for my clients to gain more than just insight, but guidance and direction, too. You'll walk away from our sessions with tangible strategies and action steps you can implement. When we follow-up, we'll check in about how those action steps went -- this may involve celebrating successes or troubleshooting challenges. As we progress, you'll likely need therapy less and less. Often, my clients start off weekly then soon move to biweekly, monthly and so on. The idea is that you're always progressing -- I never want you to feel stuck.

I want to thank my therapist for introducing me to self work. I'm looking forward to getting the things inside of me in a more secure, healed state.
I can't believe my therapists took the time to get to know me and remembers everything I tell her. I've made me so much progress on my mental health and I'm confident in my ability to handle life now that I've been given a toolbox of coping skills. She saved my life, in a way.
My therapist immediately makes me feel at ease and I leave my sessions feeling such gratitude for the time we had. Intentional space to check in every week has done wonders for me and my growth.
My therapist is really just a beautiful listener and has so much knowledge about how the brain works. I appreciate everything she taught me about myself my brain, and how how to cope with all my thoughts and feelings.
I'm so glad I was connected to my therapist and we started working together because she is so easy to talk to and I really appreciate all the help and support she's given me.
I feel so comfortable with my therapist. I look forward to our sessions every week because I know I am going to laugh, cry and feel much support. I always feel empowered and confident after our sessions.
I feel so blessed to have finally found a therapist who not only just listens and validates me, but helps me understand why I'm stuck in my patterns and gives me the tools I need to change my ways.
