Hello! I'm Anne-Marie, a Licensed Professional Counselor with a passion for helping individuals navigate life's challenges. With experience in a variety of therapeutic settings, including inpatient psychiatric hospitals, partial and intensive outpatient care, residential treatment centers, and private practice, I've had the privilege of working with adults, adolescents, couples, and families. My clients have faced issues such as depression, anxiety, substance use, trauma, and relationship and communication challenges, and I've been honored to support them on their journeys to healing and growth. Originally from Midland, Texas, I moved to the Austin area five years ago. I hold an undergraduate degree in Communications from Brigham Young University-Idaho and a Master's in Mental Health Counseling from Messiah College in Pennsylvania. My counseling style is straightforward and empathetic, and I use a client-centered approach to personalize therapy for each individual. I firmly believe that counseling is about more than just the mind; it encompasses the mind, body, heart, and soul. When one of these elements is left out, healing can be very difficult. My goal is to foster resiliency in each client and help identify their unique strengths, gifts, and insights. I work to support clients in developing skills such as mindfulness, emotion regulation, distress tolerance, and changing dysfunctional thought patterns. I believe that each of us has within ourselves the untapped ability to find the answers and strength to overcome whatever mountain is in front of us. When I'm not working as a therapist, I enjoy spending time with my five children, my husband of 18 years, and our two dogs.
