Hi there, I'm Anne! Hi! I'm Anne Schwab, a licensed marriage and family therapist. I take a holistic approach to therapy by looking at the client from all aspects to help them make changes and ignite healing. I don't tell you how to live your life or what you should work on-that's not helpful. You provide the what and the why, and I teach you the tools to help you meet your goals. My approach My background and training have been primarily in family systems theory, CBT, and EMDR. I earned my Master's in Psychology from California Southern University, which has deepened my expertise. This makes me a specialist in working with individuals, couples, and families wanting to address and heal from various trauma. I focus sessions on the client-you are the driving force for therapy. We will go at your pace and as you are ready. My focus I see individuals and couples primarily, but occasionally I will have whole families in my office. Treating trauma is a specialty of mine, but I also see many clients wanting to address a variety of mental health issues like depression, anxiety, Bipolar Disorder, ADHD, attachment issues, interpersonal relationship issues, and more. My communication style I'm blunt but kind. I won't waste your time tiptoeing around issues. I will challenge unhealthy perspectives, help you take accountability and ownership of your healing process, and guide you along the way. My journey to mental healthcare My journey to becoming a therapist started because I needed therapy myself. When I was in my second year of college, my parents got divorced. I basically lived at the student counseling center to address the feelings that came up for me around my family breaking up. At that time, I was so deeply in my own issues that the thought of helping other people with theirs was overwhelming. I finished school with a BA in Economics, graduating in the middle of the 2008 recession, and needed to build my resume.
