Anne Spencer, LPC

Psychotherapist
65 S Main St, Suite C100, Pennington, NJ
I began my career as a high school history teacher, after graduating from Kutztown University, with a Bachelor’s degree in Secondary Education. During my time as a history teacher, I began to realize that one must be ready to learn and grow, so as to better interact with the world around them. I found this to be true, both in and outside of the classroom. I then went on to earn my Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health from Rider University, with a concentration in adolescent and young adult mental health. My goal is the same as a clinician as it was when I was a teacher: To promote growth and development, in a supportive and caring environment. I am currently certified by the National Board for Certified Counselors, am an active member of the American College Counseling Association, and am core trained in the foundations of Dialectical Behavioral Therapy. I practice from a strength-based mindset with emphasis on fostering resilience, skill implementation, and self-compassion within a collaborative, supportive, non-judgmental environment. I have unique experience in providing counseling support to a diverse client population. Through working in Partial Hospitalization Programs, College Counseling Centers, Crisis Response Teams, and Private Practice, I have been able to further develop my skills. I have become trained in several, effective therapeutic approaches to meet my clients where they are. Outside of work, I enjoy traveling, experiencing new things, and spending time with my dog, Omar. Omar is trained as a certified-therapy dog, and we attend events at local institutions promoting mental health awareness and initiatives.
