UpLift Behavioral Health providers do not issue prescriptions for substances controlled by any federal or state agency or other drugs that may be harmful because of their potential for abuse. UpLift Behavioral Health reserves the right to limit the types of medications that may be prescribed by its doctors and nurse practitioners. All prescriptions furnished by UpLift Behavioral Health care providers are issued in accordance with applicable federal and state law as well as UpLift Behavioral Health policy. I treat symptoms influenced by an array of factors and influences, helping individuals develop an awareness of how thoughts, feelings, and emotions shape behavior. I like to incorporate mindfulness practices to better recognize these influences and to help change the relationship with these thoughts or influencers. Additionally, I provide tools to help challenge and reframe thoughts when that is a skill one wishes to develop. With a Master’s in Rehabilitation Counseling from Virginia Commonwealth University, I offer a confidential and non-judgmental space that fosters learning, growth, and the opportunity to become the best version of oneself imaginable.

What should a new client know about working with you?

Hi! My name is Anthony, a Licensed Professional Counselor. I have over 20 years experience working with individuals struggling to manage psychological and/or emotional difficulties, including those diagnosed with severe mental illness. I’ve worked with many populations over the years and in many different treatment settings (i.e., private practice, acute inpatient psychiatric facilities, outpatient therapy programs such as partial hospitalization, group homes, forensic facilities, and community mental health programs). I’m pleased to say I’ve had the opportunity to assist individuals with a large range of issues and I have yet to meet a challenge that was unwelcome. My counseling approach can be heavy in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy approaches but I love to incorporate Mindfulness, Solution-Focused, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy into my work.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

I understand that it is important to meet people where they are. I believe building rapport and helping individuals establish their own goals, objectives, and measurments for progress is key to success.
