Getting to know Anthony Rodriguez

Hello, I'm Anthony. Meaning and certainty are hard to practice when you're struggling to get through the week. My experiences as a therapist involve helping people experiencing anxiety, depression, life transitions, psychosis, and interpersonal difficulties; if any of those apply to you, I would like to help you or someone you care about find some relief. I hold a Master's in Clinical Counseling Psychology from Roosevelt University. My process is collaborative and open, meaning you set the pace as we learn how to reshape thoughts, develop new skills, and celebrate your best. I love learning about my clients and figuring out how we can use our therapy time to help you get to where you want to be in life.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I work primarily from a DBT perspective, focusing on dialectics in practice, interpersonal effectiveness, emotional regulation, and distress tolerance. I also implement various motivational interviewing and value-based interventions; akin to existential, narrative, and gestalt strategies. I believe a combination of concrete and introspective work leads to meaningful change in therapy .

What is your typical process for working with clients?

I enjoy meeting with new clients in my office or online. Our first couple sessions are spent learning about each other -- it's important for me to know a bit about your background and life experiences, as well as what brings you into therapy. Then, together, we can work to come up with goals for our time together and set ourselves up to make sure you get what you need from your therapy experience. I work to create a safe and non-judgemental space to explore the many thoughts and feelings that come up in our daily lives. I also love to work with my clients to implement practical techniques to improve symptoms and help my clients get what they want out of their lives.
