Getting to know Antonice Bibbs

Hello, I'm Antonice. The opportunity to work part-time as a clinical therapist came at a time when I never imagined myself in this career field. A few years later, I stepped into the role full-time and I have never looked back. My unofficial clinical work started much earlier, immediately after completing my undergraduate education. I took a position at a respite center and was assigned to work with an autistic 6-year-old who was nonverbal. I arrived at his daycare and worked one-on-one with him, and it was there that I learned the importance of connections and building rapport. Despite his limitations in this area, every day he and I would take a walk in the neighborhood and enjoy the serene surroundings. From that point on, it was clear that we had trust, mutual understanding, and rapport, and that is the first step in a helping relationship. Since then, I have worked as a clinical therapist with individuals, families, crisis intervention, trauma, military personnel, and their families. The therapy treatment interventions I utilize include treatment planning, motivational interviewing, problem-solving, cognitive behavioral therapy, prolonged exposure therapy, eye movement desensitization and reprocessing, and dialectical behavioral therapy. I specialize in working with anger management, anxiety, bipolar disorder, borderline personality disorder, adolescent and teen mental/behavioral health, depression, family relationships, military/veteran support, narcissistic personality disorder, PTSD, intimate/romantic relationships, stress, suicidal ideation and/or self-harming, and trauma. My approach to therapy is grounded in the belief that building a strong, trusting relationship is the foundation of effective treatment. I strive to create a safe and supportive environment where clients feel understood and empowered to make positive changes in their lives.
