What should a new client know about working with you?

Anya’s journey in mental health began with her undergraduate studies at Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff, followed by a Master of Clinical Social Work from Arizona State University. Early in her career, she gained valuable experience providing therapy in community mental health centers, schools, hospitals, and collaborative care settings, working with a wide variety of clients. In 2022, Anya began working in private practice, where she eventually obtained independent licensure, began supervising associate therapists in Arizona, and expanded practice to California. Throughout her career, she has pursued advanced training in a range of modalities, earning certification in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and training in EMDR. As a lifelong learner, she continues to engage in ongoing education to deepen her skills and understanding of varied human experiences. Beyond her clinical work, Anya is committed to giving back to the community. In 2023, she joined the board of directors for the Keep Moving Forward Foundation (KMFF), a non-profit that provides funding for therapy services to young people who have experienced familial loss. What is your typical process for working with clients?

Research consistently shows that the most important factor in successful therapy is the relationship between the therapist and the client. Because of this, I place a strong emphasis on creating a space where you feel safe, respected, and able to show up exactly as you are. Therapy should feel like a place where you can explore every corner of your inner world freely. Many of the people I work with come to therapy feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or exhausted from carrying things on their own for a long time. Sometimes there are specific struggles—like anxiety, intrusive thoughts, or past experiences that still feel present. Other times, it’s a more general sense that something in life isn’t quite right, even though it may look like it on paper. Wherever you’re starting from, we can begin there. Wherever you are starting from, therapy can be a place to slow down and better understand your inner world. Together we can explore the patterns, fears, and experiences that may be keeping you stuck while also identifying the values and goals that matter most to you. Over time, this work can help you respond to life with greater flexibility, confidence, and self-understanding.
