What should a new client know about working with you?

Clients can expect warmth, honesty, and a nonjudgmental environment. Apriann understands that beginning therapy may feel uncomfortable or uncertain, and clients do not need to have all the answers before the first appointment. She meets clients where they are and works with them to identify what support would be most helpful. Her style is collaborative, supportive, and practical. Therapy may include exploring thoughts, emotions, and past experiences; identifying patterns that may no longer be serving you; building coping and communication skills; and setting realistic goals. Apriann values client feedback and adapts treatment to each person’s needs, preferences, strengths, and pace. For clients addressing substance use, therapy is approached with respect and without shame. Whether your goal is recovery, reduced use, greater understanding of your patterns, or support for a loved one’s impact on your life, treatment will be tailored to your individual goals.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

The first session is focused on getting to know you and understanding what brings you to therapy. Apriann will discuss your current concerns, relevant personal and family history, relationships, stressors, strengths, previous treatment experiences, substance use when relevant, and goals for care. You will also have time to ask questions and decide whether the therapeutic approach feels like a good fit. Together, you will develop an individualized treatment plan based on your priorities. Ongoing sessions may include supportive therapy, skill-building, problem-solving, reflection, coping strategies, and goal-focused work. Approaches may include cognitive behavioral strategies, mindfulness, motivational interviewing, trauma-informed care, and strengths-based interventions as appropriate. Progress is reviewed regularly, and the plan can be adjusted as your needs and goals change. Apriann’s goal is to help clients feel empowered, supported, and better equipped to manage challenges both during and beyond therapy.
