April Mack, LMFT

Psychotherapist
CA
Hi there, I'm April! I am a BIPOC, neurodivergent therapist with over 10 years of experience in community mental health. I am passionate about supporting marginalized and underserved populations. I have experience working with the LGBTQ community as well as the kink and polyamorous communities. My focus I have discovered my passion for working with neurodivergent adults. Especially those who are still learning to identify their divergent traits and build adaptive skills around them. I also have a diverse personal background and try to use that to connect with a wide variety of individuals, including those in the kink and poly community. My approach My approach is more personable than it is formal. I want to get to know you so that we can co-create a map to help guide you toward your goals. I can shift between directive and client-led depending on your needs. My communication style I value respectful, candid communication. I want therapy to be a place where you can be open and honest without fear of judgment. My journey to mental healthcare I enjoy puzzles and human connection. I have always relished being able to provide a safe outlet where people can be heard. I also want to help dismantle some of the stigma around therapy and mental health. My goals for you I take a supportive and collaborative approach to treatment. I hope to validate your experiences while we explore any patterns that may help us better understand your current challenges. Then we will work to identify solutions, skills, and coping methods that can help you reach your goals. Our first session I will inquire about your goals and your prior experience with therapy. What you liked, what you didn't. What kind of approach you think would work best for you. Then we will set some short-term and long-term goals.
