“April is a huge asset to paths program. She is very knowledgeable on all the issues that I am going through. I know my problems won't go away, but she is helping me deal with them. The other thing I like, she treats me like I am the only patient that she has. Remember one thing you have to participate to make this work. I know over time my mind will be in a different place. Thank you April!!”

Getting to know April Poynor

I am a Licensed Marriage Family Therapist in California and Arizona, with a Master's degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Hope International University. I am also a Certified Cognitive Behavioral Therapist through the Academy of Cognitive and Behavioral Therapies. With over 9 years of experience, I have had the opportunity to work with diverse populations, including children and families involved in child protective services, adults with severe mental illness, adults experiencing homelessness, adolescents and adults involved in the justice system, and adults struggling with substance addiction. I provide support to individuals facing severe mental illness, depression, anxiety, trauma, anger, and substance addiction. My theoretical orientation includes Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, and Integrative Therapy. I work collaboratively with my clients to understand how their experiences affect their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. Together, we explore ways to change destructive and disturbing thought patterns that influence emotions and actions. We focus on developing new skills or strengthening existing ones to better manage thoughts, feelings, and behaviors when facing internal and external stressors. I look forward to walking with you on your journey toward increased well-being and healing.
