Hi there, I'm April Skeem, LCSW! My approach to therapy is unique to you and your desired focus. With a brief initial interview, I can offer a personalized path using the appropriate modality or combination of therapies that feels right when we create your plan together. My approach includes CBT-Mindfulness, Experiential, Person-centered, Relational, and Creative Therapy. My expertise lies in working with sex, trauma, sexual assault, partner violence, anxiety, PTSD, and couples therapy. I have also successfully supported many women's issues and personality disorders. I create an authentic environment that invites openness and thoughtful intention. Clients often say it feels ?real,? offering hope for strength, growth, self-discovery, and empowerment-goals I continually strive to support. Before becoming a therapist, I practiced nursing for many years. My medical background, combined with facing a personal struggle head-on, led me to explore growth and healing. Finding an amazing therapist who provided a safe space for my own work was terrifying and hard at first, but then hopeful and lighter. This experience inspired me to enhance my career and offer others the opportunity to show up for themselves in this healing way. I earned my Master's in Social Work from Louisiana State University. My goal for you is to explore how you arrived where you are and where you want this path to lead, including any changes along the way. In our first session, I want to get to know you! I value your time and commitment to therapy, so it's important that this space feels like one you choose to be in.
