Adoption & Attachment Focused Therapy, my practice centers on supporting individuals, couples, and families navigating the complex intersections of adoption, attachment, and trauma. I provide a compassionate and grounded space for clients to explore identity, belonging, and relational safety while working toward deeper emotional integration and healing. My approach is trauma-informed, attachment-based, and adoption competent, honoring each client’s lived experience and the protective adaptations that once served them. I draw from Internal Family Systems (IFS), Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Narrative Therapy, Somatic Experiencing, Healing Shame work, and Psychodynamic principles and practice from a Humanistic perspective. These modalities allow us to access the layers of the self—thoughts, emotions, sensations, and inner “parts”—that carry stories of pain, resilience, and hope. Together, we bring understanding and care to these parts, cultivating self-leadership and a stronger sense of internal safety. My work often centers on (transracially/-culturally) adopted individuals aged 13 and older, adults with attachment trauma, parents of adopted children, transracial and transcultural adoptive families, and partners of adopted people. I recognize the profound impact of early attachment experiences, ambiguous loss & grief, and cultural dislocation that often accompany adoption, and I aim to create space for these experiences to be seen, felt, and integrated. Through our work together, clients begin to experience greater emotional regulation, clarity, and connection—within themselves and in their relationships. My goal is to help clients move from surviving to thriving, grounded in a more cohesive sense of self and belonging.

What should a new client know about working with you?

As a therapist, I approach our work together with deep compassion, curiosity, and respect for your lived experience. As a Transracial International Adoptee (TRIA), I personally understand that healing from adoption and attachment-related wounds requires a space where you can feel safe, seen, and understood. My role is to walk alongside you—not to fix or judge—but to help you reconnect with the parts of yourself that long for understanding, belonging, and ease. I believe that healing happens in relationship, through warmth, trust, and gentle exploration. You can expect me to show up authentically, hold space for complexity, and honor your pace as we navigate your story together.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

While “Developmental Trauma Disorder” is not an official DSM-5 diagnosis, it captures the impact of early relational disruptions, chronic stress, or unmet emotional needs—experiences often intertwined with adoption and attachment wounds. For many adopted individuals, losses and separations that occur before conscious memory can still shape how safety, trust, and belonging are felt later in life. My work begins with creating a foundation of safety and curiosity, where each part of a person’s story is welcomed and understood with compassion. Drawing from Internal Family Systems (IFS), Somatic Experiencing, and trauma-informed narrative work, I help clients gently explore the protective patterns that once ensured survival but may now limit connection. I also support parents of children with attachment wounds and partners of adoptees, helping them understand trauma through an attachment and adoption lens. Together, we work to foster empathy, regulation, and relational attunement, allowing space for deeper connection, self-compassion, and healing within the adoption experience.
