“Arthur Belmont, LMFT is fantastic. I wasn't really expecting much w/ someone I just found online. He is quick, smart, intuitive, clearly communicates his ideas, listens and has a great demeaner. I cannot believe my good fortune. I'll see him again; on the regular. Highly recommend!”

Getting to know Arthur Belmont

Therapy for gay men navigating intimacy, identity, and long-term fulfillment. Helping gay men move beyond shame, people-pleasing, and relationship burnout. Many gay men reach a point where success on the outside no longer matches how they feel on the inside. You may be navigating relationship challenges, intimacy concerns, long-standing anxiety or shame, or a sense that old coping patterns are no longer working. Therapy can offer a space to slow down, understand yourself more fully, and make changes that feel authentic and lasting. I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with over 20 years of experience working with gay men in individual and couples therapy. My approach is thoughtful, collaborative, and depth-oriented, helping clients explore how early experiences, identity, and relational patterns continue to shape their emotional lives and connections with others. I specialize in working with gay men around relationships, intimacy, addictive behaviors, anxiety, depression, anger, trauma, and life transitions. I also have extensive experience supporting LGBTQ+ individuals and understand the unique stressors that can accompany identity development, visibility, and belonging. I hold a Master’s degree in Counseling from California State University, Long Beach, and a Bachelor’s degree in Communications from Temple University in Philadelphia. I am licensed in California, Florida, Michigan, and Texas, and I offer private, full-fee, and out-of-network telehealth therapy for clients residing in those states.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I use Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT) interventions. The basis of CBT is that thoughts, feelings, and behaviors are inter-related, so altering one can help to alleviate difficulties in another.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Therapy tends to be time-limited, so we may decide to work together for a few months, and then plan to evaluate our progress. Treatment focuses on trying to resolve current problems. Your past is not ignored and early learning experiences are considered important in CBT; however, the main focus is on helping to reduce the distress and related symptoms that are impairing a person’s current functioning.
