Getting to know Arthur Gately

I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor who helps people understand and deal with the intense emotions in life—whether sadness, anger, despair, grief, or anxiety. I help people understand the cause of their intense emotions, provide strategies to manage them, and guide them toward a future where these challenges are no longer an issue. I offer Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP) for clients who want more than traditional talk therapy—particularly for treatment-resistant depression, anxiety, and PTSD. My broader interest in psychedelic-assisted therapy, including my work in clinical trial research, is what drew me to it. I provide the preparation, support, monitoring, and integration, while my medical partner, Journey Clinical, evaluates and prescribes the sublingual ketamine. I earned my Master's in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Rollins College. Prior to becoming a psychotherapist and moving to Florida, I spent several years working in sales in California. I ultimately found this unfulfilling and decided to make a career change. I truly enjoy helping people work through their issues, and it brings me great joy to see clients make progress—especially when it comes to helping them find a more fulfilling career, as I understand how draining and unfulfilling that can be. In my spare time, I love being outside. I really enjoy playing sports, camping, hiking, and skateboarding. I also love taking road trips—I do at least one every year. The picture above is me at the Grand Canyon during a road trip I took from Huntington Beach, CA, to Orlando, FL.

What should a new client know about working with you?

My own transformation from a corporate salesperson to a therapist embodies my deep belief in the endless potential for change and growth. This personal evolution wasn't just a career shift; it was a life-altering journey that fueled my passion for supporting others as they navigate their mental health and societal pressures. I've learned firsthand how liberating it is to step away from what's expected and chase what truly fulfills you. Outside the therapy room, I immerse myself in the energy of nature and sports. Whether I'm skateboarding, playing hockey, or camping under the stars, I find these moments invaluable for my well-being. I also dedicate time to fostering animals in need, offering them a temporary haven. These slices of my life, from professional pivots to personal passions, fuel my empathetic, understanding approach to therapy, where I champion every individual's journey towards a life unbound by limits and rich with personal achievement. And if you're curious about Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy, know that I approach it the same way I approach all my work—collaboratively and at your pace, with ketamine as a tool that supports the therapy, never a shortcut that replaces it.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

My approach begins with deeply understanding each client's unique story, then creating a tailored plan aimed at not just coping, but thriving. I'm trained in addressing depression, anxiety, career issues, addiction, trauma, and relationship issues, and I draw on my own history—a transition from high-pressure corporate sales in California to psychotherapy—to understand how unfulfillment and pressure shape mental health. For clients exploring Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP), the process is structured and collaborative. We begin with preparation sessions to set intentions and build safety, move into dosing sessions where I'm present to support and monitor you, and follow with integration sessions to turn insights into lasting change. The medical evaluation and prescription are handled by my partner, Journey Clinical, so our work together stays focused on the therapy itself. Ketamine becomes a tool that supports the process—never a shortcut that replaces it. Whether through traditional therapy or KAP, witnessing clients transform and find joy in overcoming their challenges is the core of my practice. I believe everyone deserves a fulfilling journey, and my goal is to help you get there.
