Getting to know Ashley Calhoun

Ashley is a board-certified, Licensed Professional Counselor serving clients in Georgia and Florida. She earned her bachelor's degree in psychology from Howard University and completed her Master of Education in Professional Counseling at the University of Houston in her hometown of Houston, Texas.

What should a new client know about working with you?

Within my work, I focus on women’s issues from a culturally-sensitive perspective. This typically includes issues around self-discovery, building confidence and mood management. As a former athlete, I tend to be goal orientated and work to help my clients build tangible steps for change. I hope to empower women to shape the life they've imagined while challenging societal and cultural influences that influence our perspectives.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

I think of counseling as a partnership between my expertise and YOUR worldview. We’ll begin by exploring internal messages that may be repeating in your head, ultimately making it difficult to make changes. From there we can create new believes and perspectives that allow you to be present and enjoy life.
