Hi there, I'm Ashley! Let's check in... Do you find yourself giving love, support, and showing up for others, yet in moments when you need it, no one is there? What about having family and friends to talk too, but still feel alone and/or misunderstood? Have you ever felt or maybe learned through experience that you need to do everything on your own because others have proven to be unreliable? Untrustworthy? Ever been labeled a people pleaser? Have I turned onto your neighborhood yet?! The truth is you are not alone. Many of us, through culture, society, our families, our past, have learned to over-extend, cross boundaries, become self sufficient, and many other things to help us survive. So now, the question becomes, is what helped you to survive back then keeping you stuck, stagnant, and complacent now? Welcome to therapy! It isn't always easy to ask for help, especially from a stranger, so great job in taking the first steps in acknowledging what you need. It is my goal, as a therapist, to first see you, hear you, understand you and your point of view... and yes, I may challenge you too. It's my ultimate goal to plant and/or water little seeds of change for you, whether that means change in your world view, change in attitude or disposition, change in perspective, and/or change in behavior. With an open mind, openness to this process, commitment, and dedication, we have an opportunity to achieve great things. I have been in the mental health field for a little over 10 years now, viewing life from all different angles. I obtained my B.S in Psychology at Stevenson University in 2010, then went onto furthering my career and obtained my M.S in counseling education specializing in mental health counseling in 2019 at McDaniel College. Since then, I transitioned into my full-time therapist role in one of the hardest, unprecedented times in America (2020). During this time, I have learned a lot about myself as a clinician.
