Hi there, I'm Ashley! Thank you first and foremost for taking an important step in your healing journey. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), a Registered Play Therapist (RPT) and a National Board Certified Counselor & School Counselor. My focus Primarily, I have worked with teens, youth and adolescents; however, my ideal clients have no age limit. I enjoy working with clients committed to their growth and honest throughout the therapy process. My approach It is my belief that one size does not fit all as it relates to counseling. Instead, I consider myself an eclectic counselor adapting to any particular therapy style that a client needs. My communication style My motto is "When words fall short, play speaks" and it is my belief that all behaviors are a form of communication; thus my communication style is a play-based approached suitable for even the voiceless. For older individuals, my communication style is open and honest taking a non-judgmental stance. My journey to mental healthcare Initially, I began my career as a classroom teacher, then became a school counselor upon seeing a greater need. After becoming a school counselor, I furthered my education and discovered play therapist and pursued professional licensure and eventually opened my own private practice. My goals for you I help clients reach their goals by establishing clear, concise and practical steps based on the client's desires, helping them to equip their toolbox, and providing a safe space conducive to the client's overall growth. Our first session The first sessions are typically reserved as a rapport-building session where the client and therapist discuss expectations of the therapeutic process and establish goals to guide the treatment.
