Ashley Jackson, LCSW, LISW - CP

Psychotherapist
NC
In 1998, at the age of 7, my life changed when my father was sentenced to 28 years in prison. A year later, at 8 years old, I moved in with my maternal grandmother and aunt. From that point, I experienced what it felt like to grow up without my parents present and had to learn independence at a young age. That independence shaped me. Some days it became my strength, while other days it felt heavy. I learned how to survive, how to rely on myself, and how to keep going even when I did not always feel supported. I struggled with trusting others, carrying the fear of repeating generational patterns, being hard on myself, and wondering what it would have been like to have the family experiences I saw others have. As I grew older, my perspective began to change. I learned forgiveness and gained a deeper understanding of my parents. Now that I am a parent myself and have gained knowledge about mental health, I recognize that my parents were doing the best they could with the experiences, resources, and challenges they faced. Life can be demanding, painful, and overwhelming. When mental health is not prioritized, the impact can extend beyond ourselves and affect the people we love most. I know what it feels like to live with unanswered questions, to struggle with trust, to experience sadness without understanding why, and to carry pain silently. My experiences are not what define me, but they have shaped my purpose. As a clinician, I understand the power of healing, support, and therapy. My childhood experiences are part of the reason I am passionate about helping others navigate their own journeys. I know what it feels like to hurt, and I know that healing is possible. I believe there can be joy after pain, strength through adversity, and purpose in the experiences we overcome. Everything that I have been through has helped shape the person and clinician I am today.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I grew up hearing things like, "therapy isn't for Black people" and "what happens in this house, stays in this house." First of all, both of those statements are a lie. Second, while trust and privacy matter, not at the expense of your mental health. Let's be real. Life be lifing. We all need support at different points in our lives, and there is absolutely nothing wrong with asking for it. You're probably showing up for everyone else. Your employer. Your children. Your partner. Your family. You're making sure everyone else is okay while quietly carrying the weight of your own experiences. But who's showing up for you? Who's holding space for you? That's where I come in. Sometimes, from the outside, it looks like you have it all together while internally you're struggling to keep your head above water. Maybe you've spent years surviving and have become so good at it that no one realizes you're hurting. Together, we'll identify the things that are weighing on you, unpack the trauma and triggers that continue to show up in your life, and learn practical ways to manage them so that you're not just surviving, but healing. What sets me apart as a clinician is my ability to combine clinical expertise, cultural awareness, and genuine human connection. I provide a compassionate, strengths-based approach that honors each client's story, identity, and lived experience. As a Black Licensed Clinical Social Worker, I understand the importance of creating spaces where clients feel seen, valued, and understood without having to explain or minimize their experiences. My goal is not only to help you navigate life's challenges, but to help you reconnect with your strengths, build resilience, and recognize your own capacity for healing and growth. You do not have to carry it all by yourself.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

At Konnected Krowns, LLC, I am committed to redefining the mental wellness experience by providing culturally responsive and compassionate care that honors your story, your experiences, and your goals. My approach is rooted in empowerment, authenticity, and genuine connection. Whether you're navigating a difficult season or simply seeking personal growth, I am here to support you as you embrace your worth and reconnect with your strengths.
