*Please note all appointments are subject to confirmation; look for an email after booking from Concentric Counseling to gather additional information to ensure we can meet your therapy needs and goals and verify your insurance benefits. ** Ashley does not accept Medicaid or Medicare plans. I have met all the criteria to obtain my licensure as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in the State of Illinois, and I expect to officially receive my LPC in Summer 2022. In Summer 2023, I anticipate obtaining my LCPC given the number of clinical and supervision hours completed. I hold a Master's degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Trevecca Nazarene University and a Bachelor's degree from Fisk University. Mediocrity is not enough when it comes to providing care for those with mental health disorders and relationship challenges. I believe that patience, empathy, consistency, and genuineness are essential. I value building a safe, empathetic, affirming, genuine, and collaborative relationship with my clients. I believe it is important to both challenge and support my clients as they work hard to identify, manage, and improve the habits, behaviors, and beliefs that may be holding them back from experiencing a fulfilling life. My ultimate goal is to help my clients develop and implement the skills needed to improve themselves as a whole. I believe that everyone has the capacity to be resilient and grow with the proper tools and support. I draw from Psychodynamic, Humanistic, and Integrative approaches, utilizing Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Interpersonal Therapy, Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), Solution-Focused Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), and Exposure Therapy (ET) in my sessions.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I have over 3 years of clinical experience providing direct care to individual adult clients from diverse backgrounds. I discovered my passion for psychology and mental health while attending Fisk University in Tennessee where I received my Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Psychology. A few years later I attended graduate school at Trevecca University in Nashville, Tennessee where I obtained my Masters of Art (M.A.) in Clinical Mental Health. During my Master’s training, I was able to gain experience as an Intern at The Refuge Center for Counseling, a non-for-profit organization, where I found my passion for working with adults, ranging in age from 18 to 80. My role as an Intern allowed me the opportunity to explore and identify my areas of interest which include working with clients dealing with depressive disorders, behavioral disorders, mood disorders, anxiety disorders, personality disorders, trauma, attachment issues, grief & loss, issues with communication and struggles with self-esteem. I found that my clients benefited from therapy with me using an Integrative approach, such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)) which helps modify dysfunctional or self-defeating thoughts, emotions, and behaviors; Mindfulness which helps client learn how to stay in the present allowing them to decrease psychological distress and improve their mood; Exposure Therapy which helps clients learn to safely confront their fears by gradually exposing them to the source of their anxiety; and Interpersonal Psychotherapy which helps clients improve their social and interpersonal interactions which could be contributing to their depression or anxiety symptoms.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Although I provide general therapy to individual adult and couples, I am passionate about the following areas: Anxiety: Fears & Avoidance Life Transitions & Stressors Work, School, Home and Life balance Decision Making Anxious Thoughts, Patterns, and Behaviors Relationship & Intimacy: Communication Conflict Resolution Vulnerability Attachment Issues Depression & Mood: Anger Management Grief & Loss Major Depression Situational Depression The Self: Self Esteem Issues Identity Self-Acceptance and Self-Compassion Meaning/Purpose Trauma : Family of Origin Issues Physical, Emotional and Sexual Trauma Shame & Confidence Issues
