Ashley Sutton, LPC

Psychotherapist
GA
With nearly 20 years of experience in the helping profession, I bring a warm, supportive, and empowering approach to therapy. My career began in education and school counseling, where I developed a deep understanding of the emotional and behavioral challenges people face across the lifespan. That path has led me to individual therapy, where I now work closely with adults navigating a wide range of mental health concerns. I have extensive experience working with individuals in intensive outpatient (IOP) treatment for substance use and addiction, providing compassionate care during some of life’s most difficult transitions. In addition to addiction recovery, I also specialize in working with depression, anxiety, and trauma, helping clients heal from painful experiences, manage overwhelming emotions, and build healthier, more fulfilling lives.

What should a new client know about working with you?

My approach is client-centered and collaborative—I believe in empowering people to tap into their own resilience, clarify their goals, and move forward with a greater sense of purpose and self-awareness. Whether you're feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or ready to make a change, I provide a safe and nonjudgmental space where meaningful growth can take place.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Your first therapy session is an opportunity for us to begin getting to know each other in a safe, supportive space. This initial session, often called the intake session, is focused on understanding your background, current concerns, and what you'd like to get out of therapy. We’ll start by reviewing some intake paperwork, discussing confidentiality, and going over any questions you might have about the therapeutic process. From there, I’ll ask about your personal history, life experiences, and current challenges—but always at your pace. There's no pressure to share everything right away. This session is also about building trust and rapport, so you feel comfortable and supported. I want to understand not just what’s difficult right now, but also your strengths, values, and what’s most important to you in life. By the end of the session, we’ll begin identifying goals for therapy and outlining a plan that feels right for you. Whether you’re seeking support for addiction recovery, depression, anxiety, trauma, or life transitions, you can expect a compassionate, nonjudgmental environment where your voice is heard and respected.
