Getting to know Ashten Gallagher
Hi! I’m a licensed clinical social worker with a doctoral degree in community care and counseling specializing in trauma counseling, as well as a Master’s in Social Work from Our Lady of the Lake University. Over the years, I’ve had the opportunity to work in various care settings—from inpatient to outpatient—and with many different populations, including children and families in crisis, military personnel, and individuals facing dual diagnoses or severe mental health challenges.
Trauma has become a central part of my work because it felt like nearly everyone I encountered had a story involving unprocessed trauma. Helping people work through those experiences has become my passion.
A little about me: I’m originally from Northern New Jersey, but after serving six years in the Army as a combat medic, I settled in Texas. In my free time, I enjoy hanging out at the lake, traveling Texas with my husband in our camper, playing pickleball and golf (poorly), and spending time with my three kids. During the summer, I'll be poolside any chance I get!
What should a new client know about working with you?
After an initial intake session which includes reviewing policy and exploring your history, we move into processing the experiences, beliefs, and behaviors that shape your life. I utilize thoroughly researched therapy interventions best suited to you and how you receive information, but at the heart of everything I aim to ensure that after each session you feel confident in discovering another piece of yourself. The goal is to distinguish from thoughts and behaviors that help you vs those that hinder you. It's your life, you have a vision for it, and once we define that vision, we work together to figure out how to get you there.

More information on payments and coverage
Payment is due after each session and will be charged with your card on file for any portion of patient responsibility. Receipts will be provided at the time of the charge. This typically takes place 2-4 weeks after the session, once your insurance has had a chance to process the claim. We try our best to verify eligibility, but it is ultimately your responsibility to check coverage and out-of-pocket costs for services. For out-of-network visits, you will be billed at the provider’s self-pay rate, and we can provide an invoice for you to submit to your insurance for potential out-of-network reimbursement based on your plan’s benefits.
