Getting to know Ashton Crain

**ATTENTION: We accept BCBS, Aetna, and United Healthcare PPO plans only.** **Please expect an email from Elevate Counseling with the online paperwork that must be completed prior to your appointment. Please complete it within 48 hours of receiving it.** I believe that mindful self-exploration is the key to living an authentic and fulfilling life. Experiences from our past impact our experiences of today and can leave us feeling out of alignment with our true selves. Through my own therapeutic relationships, both as a client and clinician, I have seen the importance of a safe, nonjudgmental, and collaborative space for connecting you with the best version of yourself. I hold a Master's degree in Mental Health Counseling from Northwestern University and a Bachelor's degree from Georgia State University. If you're looking to be more present in your human experience, reach out today.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I work from a client centered perspective, meaning you are the authority on your own life and experiences. Using humor, curiosity, and transparency, I meet you where you are at. I deeply believe in an equal commitment from both client and therapist in the work we do together. Through an individualized approach, I will help you identify and achieve your goals, while smashing the roadblocks in your way. In addition, I utilize EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) to holistically address and process through past trauma. This type of therapy targets the emotions, thoughts, and physical sensations associated with difficult memories. Through a combination of mindfulness, creative visualization, desensitization, and reprocessing, EMDR helps reduce distress that is affecting your everyday life. EMDR therapy empowers you to get in touch with your inner healer. I am ready to support you on that journey.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

The first session is all about getting to know you. I want to understand what's going on inner life so together we can set goals and build a plan to reach those goals.

Ashton transformed my life. She is extremely compassionate, warm, and made herself available when I needed her the most. The safety she created in our sessions helped me to work through some of the toughest problems I was experiencing (a lot of complex trauma) and allowed me to feel comfortable being vulnerable. I am forever grateful for the impact that she had. I would highly recommend Ashton as a therapist to others!
