Astghik Zakevosyan, LMFT

Psychotherapist
2235 Lk Ave, Altadena, CA
I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist providing psychotherapy grounded in trauma-informed care and evidence-based practices. My clinical work focuses on helping individuals understand and process the impact of trauma, relational patterns, and life stressors that may contribute to emotional distress, anxiety, depression, or challenges in relationships. I am trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and integrate trauma-informed approaches to support clients in processing traumatic experiences and reducing distress associated with past events. My work incorporates an understanding of schema-based trauma and attachment patterns, with attention to how early life experiences and relational environments can influence emotional regulation, belief systems, and interpersonal functioning. My therapeutic approach also reflects training in multicultural and diversity-informed perspectives. I work with an awareness of cultural identity, intergenerational experiences, and the ways generational trauma can influence mental health and family dynamics. I tailor treatment to each individual’s needs and may focus on building emotional awareness, strengthening coping strategies, improving relational patterns, and developing insight into long-standing beliefs and behavioral patterns. I aim to create a supportive and collaborative therapeutic environment where clients can explore their experiences and work toward greater emotional stability and personal growth.

What should a new client know about working with you?

When working with me, clients can expect a thoughtful, collaborative, and trauma-informed approach to therapy. I strive to create a supportive and respectful environment where individuals feel comfortable exploring their experiences, emotions, and patterns that may be contributing to current challenges. The Client is the ultimate focus of treatment and therapy moves at the pace of the Client. My work is grounded in an understanding of how life experiences, relationships, and past events can shape the way people view themselves and interact with others. I integrate trauma-informed perspectives, EMDR-informed practices, and attachment-based understanding to help clients process difficult experiences and develop greater emotional awareness. During sessions, I encourage open conversation and reflection. Some sessions may focus on understanding current stressors and emotional responses, while others may involve exploring patterns that have developed over time. Together we work toward increasing insight, strengthening coping strategies, and supporting meaningful changes that align with a client’s personal goals. My goal is to provide a space where clients feel heard, respected, and supported as they work through challenges and build greater stability and understanding in their lives.
