Psychotherapist
MD
I am a female BiPOC clinician working with individuals, couples, and families in therapy. I am an experienced psychotherapist who is caring and compassionate, here to help heal the whole you-mind, body, and spirit. With almost 30 years of experience as a therapist, I specialize in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT). My areas of expertise include women's issues, depression, stress management, self-esteem, relationship and communication challenges, anxiety disorders, and hypnotherapy. I hold a Master's degree in Clinical Social Work from Howard University and a Bachelor's degree from Cameron University. In addition to being a relationship therapist, I have presented at universities, churches, and organizations on topics such as stress, depression, and domestic violence. My experience spans residential, educational, and private practice settings, including running groups for children who have witnessed domestic violence, supporting families affected by loss through AIDS, working at an inpatient facility for firefighters and first responders, and serving as clinical director of an outpatient mental health clinic. I am an interactive, solution-focused therapist. My approach provides support and practical feedback to help patients effectively address personal life challenges. I integrate complementary methodologies and techniques to offer a highly personalized approach tailored to each individual. With compassion and understanding, I work with each person to build on their strengths and achieve the personal growth they are committed to accomplishing. My patients and colleagues describe me as down to earth, caring, creative, compassionate, understanding, empathetic, intuitive, and a great listener.
