Hello, I'm Ava, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over 30 years of experience helping individuals, couples, and families navigate life's challenges. Whether you're dealing with depression, medical crises, difficult diagnoses, or any other life transitions, I'm here to offer you the compassion and care you deserve. I welcome all people, regardless of faith orientation, lifestyle, or gender, and promise to treat you with dignity and respect. My therapeutic approach is a blend of Existential, Adlerian, Strengths-based, Solution-focused, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, all infused with a faith-based perspective. I believe in the power of these combined modalities to help you find strength and solutions in your journey towards healing. I hold a Bachelor of Science Degree from The University of Texas at Tyler and an MSW from The University of Texas at Arlington School of Social Work. I've also pursued doctoral studies at Texas Woman’s University. Since becoming a licensed clinical social worker in 1994, I've gained extensive experience as a medical, school, and psychiatric social worker. My professional journey has also led me to teach at eight universities and colleges, and present at numerous professional conferences, including The University of Oxford, Jesus College, on topics such as Courage and Crisis. I specialize in working with adults aged 25 and above who are experiencing anxiety, bipolar disorder, depression, dissociative disorders, grief, PTSD, and more. I understand that issues like unresolved family dynamics, divorce, loss of a loved one, or health challenges can deeply affect your mental well-being. My goal is to help you navigate these difficulties and find a path to a healthier, more fulfilling life. Currently, I'm writing my second book, "How to Deal with Difficult People," aimed at providing practical advice for a general audience. I also enjoy conducting workshops and presentations, sharing my knowledge and insights with others.
