“What can I say about my therapist? I’ve never felt so seen, so understood, so disarmed, all without feeling judged. I was in a dark place when I started seeking help, a year later I can attest that I’m in a better place with Pace. I know that progress can be slow but it doesn’t mean I have to do it alone. In the past I’ve seen others therapists and they were fine, but once Pace helped me peel the onion of what is/was going on, it’s was a game changer. I was worried at first because of her age, but she’s wise beyond her years. You can see the training and dedication to her craft that she has put in. I’m lucky that I was able to find her and I look forward to my sessions each week. Sometimes it’s not an easy conversation, but sometimes we need to have those hard conversations to be able to work on ourselves, to be able to see the reasons why we feel/act the way we do and most importantly, to be able to start healing. I have and will continue to recommend Pace to anyone that is in need.”

Getting to know Avana Pace

My name is Avana Pace, and I am a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) based in California. I earned my Master's in Marriage and Family Therapy from The Chicago School of Professional Psychology Westwood Counseling Center. I provide telehealth therapy to help adults live more empowered and fulfilled lives when facing depression, anxiety, relationship challenges, and the stresses of life. My approach to therapy is grounded in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, and Attachment-Based Therapy. I don't believe in a one-size-fits-all approach to therapy. I work from a client-centered perspective to understand each person's unique goals and help them build their strengths to achieve those goals. By blending Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), and Attachment-Based Therapy, I aim to empower my clients to make meaningful changes in the important areas of their lives. My style and approach are a good fit for adults who come to therapy with an open mind and a desire to create positive shifts in their current life. I focus on supporting those navigating life transitions, social pressures, and relationship conflicts. Many of my clients experience anxiety, depression, stress, and low self-worth, and I work with them to develop skills that foster a more empowered and resilient life. My journey to mental healthcare began at thirteen, when my own therapy experience profoundly changed my life. I realized how powerful the support of a caring therapist could be, and from that moment, I decided to dedicate my life to helping others in the same way. I believe that helping others is the most rewarding way I can make a difference in the world. It is a privilege to sit with my clients week after week and be an active part of their journey as they grow into the version of themselves they most want to be.

What should a new client know about working with you?

For client's who would like to utilize their insurance: I will send you a quick form that will submit your insurance information to Alma (a secure telehealth platform that I work with). Once I receive an authorization, we can begin services together. This process can take up to 48 hours; however, is usually less an 24 hours. It is important that I get an approval prior to starting therapy with new clients in order to make sure that the client is aware of the cost/ copay they will be responsible for and that their insurance will cover sessions.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

My communication style is calm, open-minded, empathic, and honest. I want my clients to feel comfortable talking with me about anything, and I pride myself on my ability to listen without judgment, giving my clients the space to freely explore all parts of themselves. I always encourage my clients to be as transparent with me as possible, as I believe honesty and compassion are the foundations of a strong and healthy therapeutic relationship. My goals for you Goal setting is a very important part of the therapy process, and for some, it can feel quite challenging. I work with my clients to set goals in a collaborative way, so they feel confident and in control of the direction of the therapeutic process. My first session with you In our first session, we will spend the majority of the time talking about what brought you to therapy and what you are hoping to get out of this experience. This is the first step for us to start to build a relationship together that feels safe, comfortable, and supportive, so we can work collaboratively to help you reach your goals. Everyone is different, and my approach is to ask questions with an open mind and to be ready to learn from you about your own experience.

Avana not only has helped me over come A lot of past trauma but has also given me the tools to take over my life again. I’m taking the power back from those who have token so much from me and Avana has empowered me to be the best I can in any situation.
Avana Pace is thoughtful, listens well and provides great responses. She saw me immediately and made me feel extremely comfortable. I appreciated that she took the time to ask specific questions to better understand my background/reasoning behind things. But what I like most is that when I wanted to do our sessions a little different, or I needed something a little different from them she was adaptive and found new ways to integrate treatment,
Absolutely the best therapist I’ve ever seen. I highly recommend Avana, she’s been so supportive and kind with just the right amount of “push” to challenge me.
