Very often there are pressures and expectations placed on women that are unrealistic, hard to even recognize and detach from. I am aware that this can often lead women to have an increase in stress, anxiety, depression, and other mental health symptoms. I am empathetic and understand how important it is to address these various beliefs to help you live your most authentic life. I am dedicated to helping women ages 18+ work through the challenges and stressors that are holding you back from the happiness you desire. I work with women in the health field, women dealing with fertility, pregnancy, and the postpartum period. I have also helped women trying to cope with everyday life and the stressors/labels that are attached. My approach to your treatment is to utilize cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) to help you let go of patterns and beliefs that no longer serve you and replace them with healthier ways of thinking. I also specialize in the treatment of trauma utilizing Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), and experiential therapy. Trauma can leave deep scars on our minds and in our bodies which impacts our daily lives and well-being. EMDR has been proven to be highly effective in addressing trauma and enabling healing. Experiential therapy creates more in-depth emotional processing and helps release negative emotions and promote healing. What I love about working with women is the camaraderie and understanding we naturally have for one another. Whether you are a mom, trying to become a mom, pregnant, working and focused on career, and/or trying to “do it all” I am here to help navigate the challenges that come with these roles. I use a strength-based approach that is solution focused and compassionate. I know that life presents many challenges and is not easy, my own personal experiences have helped me to understand the importance of incorporating a kind, gentle approach in my work as a psychotherapist.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I received my Master’s (MSW) from the University of Pennsylvania in 2008 and have since went on to receive a certification in training for Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). I enjoy using this model as a way to help you look at how your thoughts and patterns influence your emotions and behaviors. I later received training in experiential therapy which can help to increase insight and understanding of oneself as well as others. Most recently I have been trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing therapy (EMDR) and plan to work towards certification. This therapeutic approach is clinically known to be effective in helping a person heal faster from unprocessed traumas than many other methods. I have been dedicated to working exclusively with women for the past 6 years and really feel that this is where my passion lies. I have experience working with women in an intensive outpatient setting (IOP) which is a group setting held three days a week. I have helped countless women work towards becoming the best version of themselves, often breaking molds that have been created for them via values and core beliefs that no longer fit. I personally relate to the challenges that come with attempting to conceive, or the fears while carrying an unborn child, and the challenges and difficulties that come with being a first-time mom. I have worked with several women during their fertility journey as well as women during the postpartum period and the anxiety and depression that can feel all-consuming while trying to care for a newborn. As a mother of two children, I know how stressful life can get and how easily we can “go through the motions” of the day to day and miss out on the joys that are happening around us. I have a special connection to those who struggle with balancing their drive to succeed career-wise with their desire to enjoy life and loved ones. The idea of incorporating time for yourself may seem impossible, however I am here to help.
