Psychotherapist
TX
Hello & Welcome! My name is Ayesha Savant. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in Texas, providing virtual therapy throughout the state. I earned my Master's in Marriage and Family Therapy from Touro University Worldwide, with an emphasis in Licensed Professional Clinical Counseling. As a South Asian and BIPOC clinician, my core values include respect, empathy, integrity, and commitment to care. Coming from a South Asian background, it is important to me to understand your culture and experiences while incorporating these values into treatment to create a safe space for you to work through your challenges. I offer individual sessions for adults experiencing disordered eating, mood disorders, trauma, and PTSD. It takes great strength to be vulnerable, and providing a safe space for that vulnerability is essential to me. I believe building trust and understanding the therapeutic process are key to collaborating effectively toward your goals. My approach primarily stems from cognitive and behavioral therapies, often incorporating therapeutic homework to reinforce our sessions, alongside hands-on work during sessions to deepen our discussions. I have experience working with children and teens in foster care, providing skills training to manage maladaptive behaviors and improve behavioral challenges. Additionally, I have provided psychotherapy to children, teens, and adults in nonprofit and mental health hospital settings, including behavioral hospitals and eating disorder treatment centers. Our first session will focus on an intake to gather background information and discuss your presenting concerns.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor with experience treating eating disorders, trauma & PTSD, and depression. My expertise centers on working with adult and senior individuals facing challenges such as depression, anxiety, disordered eating, trauma and PTSD. As a clinician, I strive to create a safe, supportive, and non-judgmental space where you can openly explore your thoughts and emotions. I take an interactive approach, engaging with you both during sessions and between sessions when needed, to help you navigate life’s challenges and foster meaningful, lasting change.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Your first session will focus on a comprehensive assessment and evaluation, allowing me to gather important background information and gain a clear understanding of the concerns and symptoms you're experiencing. This initial session may last up to 60 minutes to ensure we have ample time to complete the assessment thoughtfully. After the initial session, follow-up appointments will typically be 45 to 60 minutes in length. Together, we will work on setting clear, meaningful goals for your treatment and develop a plan tailored to your unique needs. To support progress between sessions, I often incorporate worksheets and supplemental materials that reinforce the work we do in therapy. These tools can help you reflect, practice new skills, and stay engaged in the healing process outside of our time together.
