Getting to know Ayomide Adedapo

Hi, I’m Ayomide — you can call me Ayo. I’m a Nigerian American therapist, born and raised in New York City, and I work with adults who feel like they’re either too much or not enough — often both. Many of my clients are high-functioning on the outside but internally overwhelmed. They’re tired of overthinking, self-criticism, emotional shutdown, or repeating the same patterns despite “talking about it” before. They don’t just want insight — they want change. I hold a Master’s in Social Work from Adelphi University and use an integrative, experiential, and action-oriented approach. My work is strongly grounded in Internal Family Systems (IFS), helping clients understand the different parts of themselves that developed to cope, protect, or survive. Rather than trying to get rid of these parts, we work to understand them, reduce internal conflict, and build more choice and self-trust. Therapy with me is both deep and practical. We do the internal work — exploring emotions, trauma, attachment, and patterns — and we focus on what happens outside of session. That means building skills, practicing new responses, and applying what we uncover to real-life situations. My style is warm, collaborative, and culturally responsive, while also being direct, structured, and behaviorally focused when needed. I draw from IFS, DBT, CBT, EMDR, Emotion-Focused Therapy, mindfulness-based practices, and somatic approaches, tailoring treatment to each person’s nervous system and goals. I commonly support adults navigating anxiety, depression and mood disorders, ADHD, trauma and CPTSD, attachment and personality patterns, emotional regulation difficulties, self-criticism, burnout, sleep challenges, and major life transitions. If you’re looking for therapy that goes beyond talking — therapy that helps you understand yourself and supports real change — I’d be honored to work with you.

I have been coming to Ayo for over a year now and I feel so fortunate to have found such a great provider. She is so effective at providing the support that works best for me as an individual and provides concrete tools for improvement. I can confidently say that I have seen real positive change since starting to see Ayo.
I had the privilege of working with Ayo, an extraordinary therapist who stands out in her field. She creates a safe and welcoming space, meeting you where you are and showing that something beautiful can emerge from any beginning. Ayo excels in active listening, validating your experiences and making you feel truly understood. Her balance of firmness and gentleness is what set her apart . She challenges you to confront difficult truths while offering compassion. As a Black woman in my late twenties, navigating ADHD and unmasking my identity, I needed someone genuinely invested in my journey, and Ayo was that person. She helped me realize my capability for consistency, something I thought was unattainable. This insight gave me hope and motivation. In our time together, she held me accountable for my goals and encouraged me to pursue a fulfilling, authentic life. I wholeheartedly recommend Ayo to anyone seeking a compassionate therapist committed to helping you become your best self
Ayo has been a massive help to me over the last few months of working together. She helped me correctly identify issues I was having after years of seeing other professionals and not feeling heard. If you’re looking for someone who is friendly, non judgmental and solutions oriented I highly recommend Ayo.

Ayo is an excellent therapist! She is very insightful and asks great questions. I always leave our sessions feeling heard and with something new to think about for the week. I'm grateful to have found her!
I can confidently say that Ayo is an exceptional therapist. Her compassionate, empathetic approach made me feel heard and understood from the very first session. Ayo creates a safe, non-judgmental space, allowing for genuine growth and healing. I highly recommend her to anyone seeking transformative mental health support.
Ayo is an incredible clinician. She has the ability to provide both: a gentle and realistic validation and direction for how to improve. The combined result is a warm and gentle pressure that grows you out of your pain. She also puts in a lot of effort to stay up to date on a bunch of health things and passes it along. I feel like she genuinely cares for me and wants to see me do well.
Ayo is an incredible psychotherapist! She is particularly skilled at striking a balance between empathizing with you, actively listening, validating your emotions, and challenging you consistently. Ayo pulls from several different therapeutic principles and modalities to devise a plan that is adaptable and tailors to a client's specific needs and goals. She is well-equipped to support people from different backgrounds, people in different stages of life, and those with a range of presenting problems. I would highly recommend working with Ayo to guide you through your mental wellness journey!
Ayo is a compassionate and thoughtful therapist. It is clear by her warmth and ability to actively listen that she genuinely cares about her clients and wants to help them achieve their goals. She is very knowledgeable about various treatment modalities and will implement different techniques depending on your preferences and needs. Ayo is a competent provider who I would recommend to anyone seeking support.
Ayo or Ayomide is a wonderful provider. She makes it clear at every stage that she's genuinely invested in my getting closer to my version of a life worth living. I can absolutely vouch for her as a therapist. Culturally competent care, genuine investment, and always candid!
I have had several experiences with therapists. After engaging with Ayo, I now know what it means to have actionable, results driven, impactful, and life altering therapy. I never leave a session feeling unresolved. Ayo ensures that from the start of therapy, a goal is stated, and it’s achieved. My goals were specific, measurable, attainable, realistic, and time bound. Within a few months of meeting with her, the issues that I presented with were no longer. She has helped me navigate through the ebbs and flows of life with a different perspective. My favorite aspect of my sessions with her is never leaving feeling unresolved. She equips me with the tools I need that are specific to my wellbeing. Her caring, soft and results driven approach brings an unmatched level of comfort to our therapy relationship. I’m grateful to have finally found my therapist match.
Ayo is an amazing therapist. Being LGBTQ and coming from a non-traditional family, I was worried about being judged in therapy or receiving advice that wasn't aligned with my relationship style. But Ayo is non-judgmental, supportive, and has provided me with many helpful strategies to deal with difficult emotions and challenges that come up in life. Cannot recommend working with her enough!
