Bailey Beard, LPC

Psychotherapist
TX
I aim to highlight the importance of needs (safety, love, belonging, self-esteem, purpose, and more). We will work together to understand how your unique experiences influence who you are today. These experiences may have helped or hindered progress toward your goals. We use this information to guide our work toward self-compassion, motivation for change, and skill-building. My clients learn their strengths and build the confidence to make the changes they want in life! The process begins by reaching out for a phone consultation. If we seem to be a good match for one another, we will schedule our first session. Once the initial paperwork is complete, we’ll begin the process of building our relationship. I will ask you to tell me about yourself and what brings you to counseling. We can jump right in or take our time building trust and safety. I believe that you are the expert in your own life; my role is to support you by offering perspective, gentle challenges, and education. I have such a curiosity for understanding what makes us who we are, and I believe in the necessity of identifying, exploring, and fulfilling our needs. My needs-based systemic approach incorporates both of these ideas. I have found that present-day struggles usually have roots in the past. I've learned, in my own life, that I can be more empowered to make present-day changes if I understand where my current behavior comes from. I help clients do the same. I find it important to live in the present with an appreciation for the journey we took to get here.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I look at how the different parts of your life—like family, work, culture, and community—affect your well-being. I believe that our personalities are shaped not just by who we are as individuals but also by how we interact with the world around us. I also focus on understanding how your basic human needs are being met and where conflicts might come up when those needs aren’t fully addressed. My goal is to understand your unique story and offer education, compassion and opportunities for growth. I’m here to support you in a safe, non-judgmental space where we can work through challenges together.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

You can expect to gain a better understanding of how your relationships and surroundings impact your feelings and behaviors. We’ll work together to figure out practical ways to handle challenges while staying true to who you are. My goal is to help you feel more balanced and resilient in your daily life.
