Getting to know Barbara Parry

I have been a therapist since 2015, working with adolescents and adults experiencing trauma, as well as those seeking support for depression and anxiety. I hold a Master's in Professional Counseling from Grand Canyon University. I have been honored to help people from a broad spectrum of backgrounds, circumstances, and severities of trauma and concerns. Some examples include serving as a trauma specialist at juvenile detention centers, working at the local Children's Advocacy Center, supporting individuals living with HIV and AIDS, and assisting those in crisis or wanting help with their mental health. I believe in integrating alternative healing with medical practices because your whole wellness is important. Trauma symptoms and challenges can be addressed, and healing can happen. There is a path forward, and we can walk it together. I am committed to being present with you as we work at your pace toward healing. Thank you for considering me as your therapist. I hold sessions in the evenings. The calendar here may show only a few available time slots; please reach out if you would like sessions after 9:30 pm.

What should a new client know about working with you?

The first session is called Intake and involves gathering background to better help me understand your needs. As well as for us to see if we feel comfortable with each other as well as if you want to continue working with me. We create a couple of goals to work towards in the first couple of sessions. Goals can change and be modified. Sessions are not structured; meaning no cookie-cutter pattern must be followed. I am with you wherever you are in that day's session. Sessions are a safe place to share your thoughts and feelings. I am here for you. I am here to help you process. I want you to feel better. I will teach and will practice calming techniques, mindfulness practices, relaxation and breathing exercises, as well as ways of self-express. *****SOME THINGS CLIENTS HAVE SAID TO ME AFTER SESSIONS**** feeling understood feeling heard more relaxed more optimistic / less negative starting to feel able to try and do things learned new skills that we practiced in the session able to sleep or fall asleep "better" feeling "better" decrease in symptoms Improvement in goals believing more in self feeling less emotionally heavy feeling connected feeling calmer

More information on payments and coverage

Payment is due after each session and will be charged with your card on file for any portion of patient responsibility. Receipts will be provided at the time of the charge. This typically takes place 2-4 weeks after the session, once your insurance has had a chance to process the claim. We try our best to verify eligibility, but it is ultimately your responsibility to check coverage and out-of-pocket costs for services. For out-of-network visits, you will be billed at the provider’s self-pay rate, and we can provide an invoice for you to submit to your insurance for potential out-of-network reimbursement based on your plan’s benefits.
