Barbara Sosa, LMHC

Psychotherapist
4100 West Kennedy Blvd, Ste 310, Tampa, FL
Hi, I’m Barbara—a therapist with over 10 years of experience helping young and middle age adults work through emotional pain, trauma, and life challenges. Whether you’re feeling overwhelmed, stuck, anxious, or carrying the weight of your past, I’m here to walk alongside you toward healing and growth. I became a therapist because I’ve frequently been drawn to understanding people’s emotions and helping them untangle what’s holding them back. I started my career as a teacher and school counselor and quickly realized how deeply emotional struggles affect every part of our lives—from relationships to performance at school, home, or work. That led me to pursue my training in counseling and specialize in trauma recovery and emotional healing. Outside of therapy, I love spending time with family, crafting, and volunteering at my local church. My faith is a big part of who I am, and I offer spiritual support when clients request it—but I always respect each person’s unique background and values.

What should a new client know about working with you?

In my practice today, I help young and middle age adults who are dealing with anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, relationship issues, low self-esteem, and more. I especially focus on helping clients heal from childhood wounds, neglect, relational trauma, or abuse—whether emotional, verbal, physical, or sexual. I’m certified in trauma therapy and trained in Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART), a powerful tool for processing distressing memories.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

My approach to therapy is warm, supportive, and goal-oriented. We’ll start by getting to know your story and setting clear goals together. Many of my clients appreciate that I’m not afraid to gently challenge them when needed—to help them move past the places where they feel stuck. Sessions are tailored to your needs, and we’ll adjust how often we meet as you begin to feel better. If you’re ready to take the first step, I invite you to book a session. You don’t have to do this alone—healing starts with one conversation.
