Barbara Watt, LCSW

Psychotherapist
UT
I’ve spent most of my adult life trying to understand what makes us human—what drives us, what holds us back, what brings us peace, and how we heal. That curiosity led me to the field of mental health and continues to guide my work. I earned a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and a Master’s in Social Work from Eastern Washington University, and I’ve worked in a variety of settings, including community mental health, hospital emergency rooms, medical units, psychiatric wards, health insurance, as well as the prison system. My approach is shaped not only by professional experience, but by real life. I’ve experienced deep personal loss, wrestled with questions about meaning and change, and spent time in the client’s seat myself. I understand what it’s like to feel lost, and I also know what it takes to move forward with greater strength and self-awareness. In our first session together, here's what you can expect In your first session, we will begin by getting to know you and exploring your background so I can better understand how to support you. We’ll also work together to identify the areas you would like to focus on and begin developing a treatment plan based on your goals and priorities. This process is collaborative, and you are always in control of what we discuss and the direction of our work. While the first session is primarily focused on gathering information and building a foundation, it also gives you the opportunity to ask questions and get a sense of how I work. The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions My approach to therapy focuses on helping you better understand how your experiences have shaped who you are today, while also building practical skills to support meaningful change moving forward. I place a strong emphasis on being fully present in each session—listening carefully, seeking to truly understand your perspective, and asking thoughtful questions when clarification is needed.

More information on payments and coverage

Payment is due after each session and will be charged with your card on file for any portion of patient responsibility. Receipts will be provided at the time of the charge. This typically takes place 2-4 weeks after the session, once your insurance has had a chance to process the claim. We try our best to verify eligibility, but it is ultimately your responsibility to check coverage and out-of-pocket costs for services. For out-of-network visits, you will be billed at the provider’s self-pay rate, and we can provide an invoice for you to submit to your insurance for potential out-of-network reimbursement based on your plan’s benefits.
