Getting to know Baruch Gubnitsky

You may be feeling overwhelmed, emotionally stuck, or frustrated by patterns affecting your relationships, work, school, or daily life. I work with adolescents, young adults, and adults experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, difficulty managing emotions, relationship stress, and major life transitions. Together, we will explore what is bringing you to therapy, understand the experiences and patterns that may be keeping you stuck, and develop practical ways to manage difficult thoughts, emotions, and relationships. My style is warm, direct, and down to earth, and I tailor therapy to your individual needs by combining practical support with deeper exploration of past and present experiences. My goal is to help you feel more grounded, confident in your decisions, connected in your relationships, and able to move forward with greater clarity and a stronger sense of yourself.

What should a new client know about working with you?

Working with me is collaborative, supportive, and focused on meaningful change. I aim to create a respectful space where you can speak openly without judgment while also receiving honest feedback, practical guidance, and clear direction. We will look beyond the immediate problem to understand the patterns contributing to your distress and develop healthier ways of responding. Sessions may focus on managing difficult emotions, improving communication, addressing avoidance, strengthening coping skills, and taking practical steps toward your goals. I understand that beginning therapy can feel uncomfortable, especially when you are unsure what to expect, so I take time to understand your concerns, build trust, and create an approach that feels manageable and purposeful. Over time, our work can help you feel more secure, capable, and prepared to handle challenges with greater confidence.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

We begin by discussing what is bringing you to therapy, what has been difficult, and what you hope will change. I take time to understand your current concerns, relationships, daily experiences, strengths, and previous experiences with therapy so that our work feels relevant to you. Together, we identify clear and realistic goals and decide where to begin. Sessions usually include discussing recent situations, exploring recurring emotional or relationship patterns, and developing practical ways to respond differently in daily life. I regularly check in about what is helping and adjust our approach when something does not feel effective. Sessions are typically held weekly to build consistency and maintain progress. Over time, the goal is for you to understand yourself more clearly, manage challenges with greater confidence, improve your relationships, and leave therapy with skills and insight that continue to support you independently.
