“I have had many years of CBT-which helped-but I'd sort of hit a plateau. I think the reason for this is everyone kept telling me how I 'should' or 'should not' be feeling; that I should not feel guilty about the childhood trauma I endured or my percieived short-comings as an adult. Ben's approach with ACT therapy allows you to sit with your feelings, knead them over and accept them so that you can move on instead of constantly fighting these feelings that you think you shouldn't have. It is a very freeing approach and allows you to fully accept yourself so that you can be happy with who you are . It has helped me a lot. ”

Getting to know Benjamin Hancock

Call me Ben! I've been in private practice for 5 years and the mental health field at large for close to a decade. I hold a Master's in Social Work from Florida State University. I'm a big advocate for mindfulness (and ACT) and how it can be used alongside and incorporated into the therapeutic relationship to make tremendous strides in addressing one's mental health. I live in Asheville, North Carolina with my wife and our two cats. I love to go hiking and kayaking, am currently learning Spanish and the drums, and enjoy a good gaming session with my friends.

More information on payments and coverage

Payment is due after each session and will be charged with your card on file for any portion of patient responsibility. Receipts will be provided at the time of the charge. This typically takes place 2-4 weeks after the session, once your insurance has had a chance to process the claim. We try our best to verify eligibility, but it is ultimately your responsibility to check coverage and out-of-pocket costs for services. For out-of-network visits, you will be billed at the provider’s self-pay rate, and we can provide an invoice for you to submit to your insurance for potential out-of-network reimbursement based on your plan’s benefits.
