What should a new client know about working with you?

As a therapist I bring professional expertise with a more relaxed setting. I pride myself on the work I've done and the knowledge I've accrued, but I'm also a real person who talks like a real person instead of a cold, dispassionate expert. In therapy I will explore emotions and patterns of behavior with probing questions and a compassionate ear. My goal is not to tell you what to do or how to think. Instead, I aim to help you become more aware of your own patterns and thoughts so that you can change them for good yourself with a little bit of help along the way.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Our initial session will focus on breaking down what current problems are giving you trouble and working through an initial clinical assessment to determine what next steps should look like. I make individual treatment plans for each client I work with, so while the methods (talk therapy, goal setting, use of evidence-based practices) may be similar, the ways they are applied are tailored to each individual's needs. I utilize talk therapy to process the events between sessions as well as to follow up on assignments given to build skills that lead to long-term health. I primarily utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to help people process their thoughts, emotions, and behavioral patterns but pair this with other methods such as Mindfulness, Motivational Interviewing, and Strengths-based methods to help clients reach their goals.
