Bernadette Alers, LCSW

Psychotherapist
205 S Hoover Blvd, Ste 204, Tampa, FL
Hello and thanks for stopping by! I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) licensed in Florida and New York. I'm originally from New York City, where I earned my Bachelor's degree in Psychology from Hunter College, City University of New York, and my Master's degree in Social Work from Columbia University. I have lived in Florida since 1999. I have been working in the mental health field for over 20 years. My experience spans a variety of settings, including community organizations, hospital settings, residential, outpatient, in-home, and school environments. I have worked with a wide range of clinical issues such as anxiety and stress-related concerns, depression, anger and aggression, intellectual and developmental disabilities, mild autism, trauma, and abuse. Additionally, I have supported clients with family of origin issues, relationship challenges, and LGBTQ-related matters. My counseling style is client-centered, holistic, and culturally sensitive. I strive to create a non-judgmental, warm, and supportive environment. The techniques I use during sessions are eclectic and tailored to each individual's needs. I predominantly incorporate evidence-based approaches such as Internal Family Systems (IFS), Mindfulness, Positive Psychology, and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). I strongly believe everyone needs someone to share their troubles and triumphs with. It takes courage to recognize when you could benefit from outside support. Congratulations on taking the first step toward self-discovery and inner healing. Good luck on your journey! Bernadette Alers, LCSW, CCTP

What should a new client know about working with you?

I provide my clients with things that, perhaps, they have always needed. A sense of being heard, without judgement and with validation. A listening ear, someone who understands and someone who can help. I'm their cheerleader; someone who believes in them and someone who genuinely cares. I believe that my clients walk away knowing that they have a working partnership with me, as their therapist and that's something, that I believe, is very important.

In-network insurances

Bernadette Alers, LCSW has 100+ in-network plans.

Don’t see your insurance?

It’s common for mental health providers to be out-of-network. Many insurance plans offer out-of-network coverage, so you may get partially reimbursed. Learn more

Out-of-pocket fees and assistance
Initial session: $150 for 45 minutes
Ongoing session: $150 for 55 minutes
  • Sliding scale: Offers lower out-of-pocket fees on an individual basis, typically based on your ability to pay

More information on payments and coverage

Payment is due after each session and will be charged with your card on file for any portion of patient responsibility. Receipts will be provided at the time of the charge. This typically takes place 2-4 weeks after the session, once your insurance has had a chance to process the claim. We try our best to verify eligibility, but it is ultimately your responsibility to check coverage and out-of-pocket costs for services. For out-of-network visits, you will be billed at the provider’s self-pay rate, and we can provide an invoice for you to submit to your insurance for potential out-of-network reimbursement based on your plan’s benefits.
