Getting to know Bertha Barrett
I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in the state of Florida and a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional. I received my Master's degree in Clinical Mental Health in 2019 from Webster University and my Bachelor of Science in Psychology in 2015 from the University of Phoenix. I earned my Certification as a Clinical Trauma Professional from Evergreen in 2019 and completed the comprehensive TeleMental Health Training Certificate (THTC) program. I strive to constantly learn and build my therapeutic skills and knowledge to provide my clients with the most effective and evidence-based care.
I am the owner of Intake Psychotherapy and Wellness, LLC, an online private practice that focuses on the whole person by assisting clients in connecting the dots to the intricate parts of themselves to find the balance, happiness, and wellness they desire. I work with clients ages 19 and up and provide tele-therapy services throughout Florida. My specialties include the treatment of childhood trauma and other past or recent trauma, as well as associated symptoms such as anxiety disorders, depression, self-esteem or confidence issues, passivity, relationship challenges, managing stress, grief and loss, emotional regulation, and Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD).
I have years of experience working in community health with adolescents, adults, and their families facing various emotional and mental health challenges. I firmly believe that everything we take in or “intake” throughout life affects us positively or not so positively, which is the inspiration behind the name of my practice, Intake Psychotherapy and Wellness. I strive to help my clients identify and become more aware of their mental, emotional, spiritual, and physical parts so they can unlearn what causes them distress, relearn positive aspects about themselves, and build on areas that need growth.
What should a new client know about working with you?
I seek to provide individuals with quality counseling in a safe space so they can grow, heal, and rebuild. I assist individuals with healing from trauma and other stress-related issues and live with purpose. I create a nonjudgmental, unconditional, and compassionate environment for each of my clients to grow, heal, and rebuild their lives in a positive and healthy way. Clients often report leaving sessions with me feeling empowered and understanding more about what they are experiencing than they did before starting therapy with me. As a therapist, I lead from behind and my clients are always in control.

More information on payments and coverage
Payment is due after each session and will be charged with your card on file for any portion of patient responsibility. Receipts will be provided at the time of the charge. This typically takes place 2-4 weeks after the session, once your insurance has had a chance to process the claim. We try our best to verify eligibility, but it is ultimately your responsibility to check coverage and out-of-pocket costs for services. For out-of-network visits, you will be billed at the provider’s self-pay rate, and we can provide an invoice for you to submit to your insurance for potential out-of-network reimbursement based on your plan’s benefits.
