Psychotherapist

I take great pleasure in watching my client's efforts result in positive results. Changes can vary, i.e., dull eyes that now have a sparkle or the confidence to manage anxiety successfully, but all are awesome and one of the things I love most about my job. My approach I believe the counseling relationship is crucial to the therapeutic process. So, it is important to build that. I also believe people have the right to make choices in their lives and have the capacity to change/become their best selves. I use techniques or skills that could be helpful, based on the individual's situation i.e., CBT, ACT, and/or Mindfulness. My focus Throughout my career, I have worked with clients of all ages in all levels of care (clinic setting to the ICU of a behavioral health hospital. I specialize in working with individuals who struggle with anxiety, mood concerns, stress, co-occurring issues (mental health plus addiction), and co-dependency. My communication style My communication style is collaborative and empathetic. Respect and trust are key and can take time to earn/build. It's important we both work to have clear communication, so it is encouraged to ask questions. If a client is unhappy with something, I strongly encourage them to talk to me about it so we can come up with a plan for things to get better if we can. My journey to mental healthcare Becoming a counselor was not my first plan, but following a rather significant MVA, my career choice needed to change. As someone who has benefited greatly from the support of others, becoming a counselor just fit and is a great way to give back. My goals for you At the first session, an assessment will occur so I can better understand the client and their situation. Goals are developed from the assessment and depend on what the client wants. Objectives are the steps aimed at achieving each goal; they may be homework between sessions. Goals can be changed or discontinued after discussion between the client and me.
