Getting to know Bethany Kern

The provider is an Associate Clinical Social Worker and is currently working under the supervision of a licensed practitioner. Additionally, I do my best to practice self-care and work-life balance. The populations I have worked with have Included a variety of people of different ages and backgrounds. I’ve volunteered in hospice and equestrian therapy. I interned at a nonprofit for single parents and for the courthouse renewing conservatorships. In the last few years, I worked in residential adult mental health before transitioning to outpatient individual and group therapy. Clients should know that I look to work as a team with my clients. I work with each client in a unique way as each person is unique themselves. We would take time to connect your environment and upbringing to your coping skills and behaviors. I utilize multiple therapeutic modalities including CBT, DBT, MI, solution focused, strength based and problem solving to name the main ones. I look to structure sessions with clients based on their goals for therapy and immediate needs that arise. Clients can expect to see a lot of their therapeutic work happen in their day-to-day life. I empower clients to communicate and work on areas of their life that need tending to. My path to becoming a therapist began early with a curiosity for social sciences. I found my way to Social Work while studying Sociology. I dove into the helping profession and volunteered, interned while completing my Masters of Social Work degree at California State University Northridge in 2019.
